The enjoyment of music is fundamental for everyone: not only listening to it but also participating actively in it. People with disabilities have certain limitations, both physical and cognitive, which make access to the practical aspects difficult. Apart from playing an instrument, dance also constitutes a fundamental form of emotional expression; a way of knowing one’s body better in order to develop physical and mental abilities and build social relationships.

The “Open Music” publications are already out.

Having as its main goal the promotion of musical practice among people with disabilities, the "Open Music Foundation" (Fundación Música Abierta) has published the series Cuadernos de música para disCapacidades ("Music Books for disAbilities"): a collection of music books for several instrumental ensembles written by nine contemporary composers of renown which are already available for sale together with a CD featuring a number of these compositions.

In order to present this project, a concert will take place at the Chamber Room of the Miguel Delibes Arts Centre in Valladolid. Performers will include two of the original composers (Ananda Sukarlan and David del Puerto), as well as tenor Sergi Giménez Carreras.
